Kratom’s popularity is growing every day, and there is a lot of information about it: what are the effects, what are the chemical compounds and active ingredients, doses, strains, and many others. But along with that, it is crucial to bear in mind that Kratom is a plant that has been studied quite poorly and different scientists and authorities in that world have different opinions about it. That means that Kratom is not legal everywhere and it has three statuses in countries around the world:

So you must always keep that in mind and be wary of the legal status of Kratom in the country you live in so to avoid legal problems.
The countries we will be talking about today are from Europe, Asia, and the U.S.
Unfortunately, starting from 2005 Australian law has prohibited the sale, purchase, and use of Kratom for it being dangerous as they state. So if you live in Australia, you won’t be able to buy it legally, and if you try to buy and use it, you will be faced with legal problems.
Burma (Republic of the Union of Myanmar)
Kratom is illegal to grow, sell and use in the Republic of Myanmar, so, unfortunately, you won’t be able to buy it there without facing legal problems.
Kratom in Canada is legal to grow, purchase, sale, and use. Also, Canadians tend to grow their own as well as accepting shipments from Indonesia or Malaysia. You can buy Kratom there from your local vendor, or buy fresh leaves from growers. You can also grow your Kratom, and if you want you can purchase it online as an import is legal in Canada.
Denmark law did not prohibit Kratom up to 2009, but after some law changes, it is now a controlled substance. You can buy and use it, but you must be aware of lawsuit changes if you live in Denmark as for Kratom legal status.
The legal status of Kratom in Finland is quite unclear; it is illegal to buy, so you won’t be able to order shipments as they will be banned in the border and the law prohibits the sale inside the country, but also there is some information that you must have a prescription to buy it. So if you live in Finland, you won’t be able to enjoy it as much as you like, if at all.
German laws are difficult to understand as they did not prohibit Kratom at all, but there are problems with Kratom import. You could have it shipped to Germany, but now the laws changed, and the substance is not under control as unlicensed medicine; that means that you might get it from your local vendor, but you cannot have shipments delivered to Germany as they will not be allowed into country, so if you have a local vendor that can supply you inside the country you are quite lucky.
Kratom was legal in Israel up to 2013; after that, they stated that it is a recreational drug and poses a danger to users and made its status illegal. They also did not give any hope about the further legalization of Kratom as they stated that it is not known for medical purposes in this country.
Kratom status in Lithuania is illegal, so you won’t be able to buy it at all; or without facing any legal issues.
Despite being the country where Kratom originally grows and being a part of their tradition for thousands of years, it is now illegal as for selling, purchasing or using it, unless you have a government license to use it as a part of a ritual.
Kratom is under control in New Zealand, meaning that import is forbidden to this country, but you can purchase it from a local vendor if you can find one.
In Norway Kratom is under control and is only used as a remedy and given by prescription, so you won’t be able to buy it without one.
Kratom is illegal to buy, purchase, use and grow and if you try to order online the product won’t get through the border, so you won’t be able to buy it there.
Kratom was legal in Romania up to 2010, where it was banned for being a dangerous recreational drug as they state.
Russia has a very unclear position about Kratom as some sources state that it is legal where another state it is illegal. What one must know that Kratom is under control in Russia, so it would be wise to be careful using or buying it there?
Kratom is illegal in South Korea, and it is heavily regulated, so no sales or import of it are allowed there; as the laws are extremely strict there you should possess Kratom there as you could be faced with harsh penalties
Being the motherland of Kratom and using it traditionally for hundreds or thousands of years, Thailand came to a conclusion to make Kratom illegal and destroyed many plantations. If you get caught chewing Kratom left there you might as well have many legal problems; the so-called “Thai Kratom” really comes from Indonesia.
Kratom in England is under control and imports are not made there. It is still unclear whether it is illegal there or not.
Indonesia is very respectful to its traditions and is both one of the motherlands of Kratom and the biggest Kratom exporter worldwide. All Kratom imported to you comes mostly from there; it is legal and part of their thousand-year culture.
Kratom in Austria is legal for the time being, and you can both order it, as it can be imported there, and buy it from any local vendor.
In Belgium Kratom sale, purchase, use, growth, and import are legal, so you can enjoy it there without being afraid of anything.
Kratom in Greece is neither under control nor illegal, so it is free of use in Greece; it can be imported if you order it, or you can buy it from local vendors if you find any.
Kratom is legal in Brazil; you can buy fresh leaves from your local vendor as it can be grown there as well as order it.
As for now, the status of Kratom in Hungary it legal and you can purchase it from local head shops there; import is also legal, so you are welcome to order it from online vendors if you live there.
Kratom is legal in Ireland, and you can buy it from head shops and order it from the internet as Irish law does not restrict the import of Kratom; beware as part of Ireland is U.K. and it is under control there, so be sure you are on the right side of Ireland before using Kratom.
Italy has a legal status on Kratom, and people living there can purchase Kratom with no worries.
Netherland are always welcome to new and interesting things, so they have a legal status on Kratom, which you can always buy from local vendors at smart shops; it is also one of the largest suppliers in Europe.
The U.S. has many states, and not all of them forbid Kratom.

So to summarize, Kratom is an extremely interesting plant with great effects, but due to the fact it has become extremely popular different countries have a different opinion about its pros and cons, so you must always pay attention to the legal status of Kratom in each country, especially if you are a traveler, so you won’t have to face serious legal issues.
